Inquiry report on Congolese telecentres
Sylvie Niombo and Jourdan Ndzaba Boussou carried out an April 2006 inquiry into ten telecentres in Brazzaville and Sibit with the support of AZUR Development. In doing so, their work identified the elevated cost of computer hardware and connecting to the Internet as the major challenges to telecentres. The installation alone costs $500US while usage payments range from $400 to $600US per month.
The inquiry equally highlighted the problem of electricity, especially in rural areas and where communication between telecentres is weak. This inquiry has been merited with initiating a means to creating a network of community telecentres in the Congo .
