Free mobile phones (cell phones) for women

AZUR is planning to supply 50 mobile phones to 100 young women living in rural areas. By investing in the project , the young women will contribute to the socio-economic wellbeing of the community. Freemobile4women is a pioneering initiative that encourages women to use ICT (Information and Communication Technology) to further their autonomy.

Please contribute $200, €200 or £200 so that we can start two young women on the project.

Training Center for sewing and needlework in Pointe-Noire

Beneficiaries: 60 young female dressmakers aged 16 to 35, with children to support, out of work and in economic difficulties.

Needs that this project addresses:

After conducting interviews at Pointe-Noire, 30 young women are chosen each year to receive training in the basics of dressmaking. However, despite the 2 years of training, the majority of the women are unable to set up their own dressmaking workshops. This is sometimes due to a lack of funds or to an inability to keep up with the demands of clients. As a consequence, the children of the young dressmakers are denied the chance to go to school due to a lack of financial support. The young women are themselves susceptible to prostitution, amongst other problems.

Areas of action

  • Accelerated training in modern techniques of dressmaking
  • Granting microcredits (small loans)

Training costs for a dressmaker are $100 or €100

The microcredit awarded for setting up a new workshop is US $250 or 250 € or more.
