I would like to support two women I would like more information on this project Contributions received to date: US $400 Training Center for sewing and needlework in Pointe-Noire Beneficiaries: 60 young female dressmakers aged 16 to 35, with children to support, out of work and in economic difficulties. Needs that this project addresses: After conducting interviews at Pointe-Noire, 30 young women are chosen each year to receive training in the basics of dressmaking. However, despite the 2 years of training, the majority of the women are unable to set up their own dressmaking workshops. This is sometimes due to a lack of funds or to an inability to keep up with the demands of clients. As a consequence, the children of the young dressmakers are denied the chance to go to school due to a lack of financial support. The young women are themselves susceptible to prostitution, amongst other problems. Areas of action
